A Calmer Holiday Season

The holidays feel like a race I didn’t remember signing up for. So much doing… so much rushing… so much pressure to make everything perfect.
This year, I’m choosing something different. Something softer. Something calmer.
I’m doing less so I can have more.
What I’m Not Doing This Year
I’m giving myself permission to let a few things go:
no holiday cards
no matching pajamas
no marathon baking weekends
no piles of gifts that end up forgotten
no forcing myself to keep up with everyone else’s traditions
And… it feels good.
Like, my shoulders finally dropped an inch.
What I’m Choosing Instead
I want a holiday season that feels like a deep breath. A season where the moments matter more than the decorations.
A season where I can actually enjoy the people I love instead of rushing past them.
So this year, I’m choosing:
rest
calm
slow mornings
meaningful conversations
simple gatherings
experiences instead of things
I want to look back and remember laughter at the dinner table… not stress in the kitchen.
Focusing on “Experiences Over Things”
Instead of loads of gifts, we’re giving experiences:
dinners out
shows
travel
Get togethers
sharing memories
time
These are the moments that stay with us. These are the gifts we actually remember.
Why I’m Doing It This Way
I’ve learned that when I try to do everything, I end up enjoying nothing.
The holidays aren’t supposed to feel like a project plan. And you know how much i love a project plan!
They’re supposed to feel like connection, love, and a sense of peace we don’t get often enough.
Doing less gives me space to feel more:
more grounded
more grateful
more joyful
more present
This is the season I want. Slow. Warm. Meaningful. The kind where you can actually hear yourself think.
If You Need This Too
Maybe you’re tired of the pressure. Maybe you want more peace and less production. Maybe you’re ready for a holiday that feels like you.
See how it feels. See what opens up. See what joy slips in when you’re not trying so hard.
Try letting one thing go this year.
