Talking to My Future Self

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about my future self.

She’s the version of me who already did the things I’m scared to do today.

The one who didn’t let fear, doubt, or saboteurs make the decisions.

The one who followed her purpose—even when it felt messy.

When I picture her, she’s calm. Grounded. Steady.

Not rushing. Not second-guessing.

And she keeps it simple:

• “You already know what to do.”

• “Stop waiting for permission.”

• “Trust how far you’ve come.”

• “Don’t shrink to make things easier.”

• “Your purpose is bigger than your fear.”

She doesn’t lecture. She doesn’t shame.

She just reminds me that everything I want is possible—if I show up now.

When my saboteurs get loud (What if it doesn’t work? Stay safe. Stay small.), she says:

“Those voices are loud because you’re growing. Keep going.”

The truth?

My biggest career obstacles haven’t been skills or opportunity.

They’ve been hesitation, overthinking, waiting to feel “ready,” and wondering if I belong in bigger rooms.

She already knows the answer:

The room needs your voice. You are the proof.

Your turn:

Picture your future self 5–10 years from now. Ask her what you need to know today. Write it down. Come back to her voice when doubt creeps in.

She’s wiser than you think.

And she’s cheering for you every step of the way.
