The Journey Unfinished

I used to think life had a finish line—something clear, like a job title, a promotion, or a big milestone. For 28 years, I built a career in healthcare. I worked hard, climbed the ladder, and did everything “right.” I thought I had reached my destination.

But then everything changed.

I found myself starting over, stepping away from a system I had known for so long. It wasn’t easy. It felt scary and uncertain. But deep down, I knew it was the right move. That’s when I began my journey into coaching—helping others, creating safe spaces, and finding a new sense of purpose.

And yet, even now, I know my journey isn’t finished.

Lately, I’ve been dreaming bigger. I’m pushing myself to the next level—writing a book, stepping onto stages to share my story, and bringing coaching circles into corporate and non-profit spaces. Each step feels both exciting and a little daunting. I’m leaning into the unknown, knowing that the journey is never truly complete.

I’ve been inspired by the work of Dr. James Doty, who talks about the power of manifestation. He teaches that it’s not just about wishing for something—it’s about creating a process, a practice that aligns our hearts, minds, and actions. It’s about imagining what we want our future to look like, believing it’s possible, and then taking small steps toward it every day.

For me, that looks like:

  • Setting aside time to write, even when it feels messy or hard. I’m working on building new habits to journal daily, write weekly, and stick to a timeline. This is hard work...I’m VERY good at procrastinating when it comes to writing!

  • Reaching out to new networks and audiences, even when I feel a little nervous. I’m joining new groups, saying what I want out loud and making new connections in the areas I’m growing into.

  • Staying open to learning, even when I think I already know the answer. I’ve joined writer groups, learning from other writers and speakers, and reaching out to new organizations.

And it’s also about dreaming. I don’t know exactly what’s next, but I’m starting to imagine it. Maybe it’s creating more retreats. Maybe it’s writing more books. Maybe it’s speaking to rooms filled with people ready to step into their own power.

I’m learning that the journey isn’t about reaching a finish line. It’s about evolving, growing, and staying curious. It’s about giving myself permission to dream, to take risks, and to know that there’s always something new to discover.

If you’re like me and find yourself on a path that feels unfinished, I invite you to embrace it. Stay open. Be gentle with yourself. And keep imagining the future you want to create.

Let’s walk this journey together, knowing that the best is yet to come.
